Keeping Your Dog Happy and Safe – Tips for Kennel Care

When you can’t be with your pup, it’s important to find a place that is safe and comfortable. All breeds dog kennels provide the perfect solution to ensure your furry friend is taken care of while you are away. However, making sure your pup is getting the best care possible requires some research and effort on your part.

Background Check on Kennel Employees

Before leaving your pup in the hands of someone else, it’s important to do a background check. Make sure that all employees of the kennel have had their backgrounds checked and cleared, as well as their certifications or degrees in animal health or behavior.

It’s also a good idea to check references from other pet owners who have used this particular kennel before. You want to make sure that you trust those caring for your pup while you are away.

Conduct an On-site Visit

It’s always a good idea to visit the facility yourself before leaving your pup there. This will give you an opportunity to get a sense of what kind of environment they provide for their guests and get a feel for the staff members who will be taking care of them.

Observe how staff interact with animals, making sure they demonstrate respect and patience towards them during playtime or when calming an anxious pup.

Also, take note of any safety measures in places, such as fencing around outdoor areas or gates separating different areas indoors so that pups cannot escape or wander off into other parts of the facility unsupervised.

Check Vet Records

It’s essential that all pups at the kennel are up-to-date on all vaccinations, flea/tick preventatives, spaying/neutering, etc., prior to being accepted into any facility.

Ask about what kind of vetting process they use prior to admitting any pups into their program; this should include checking vet records upon intake as well as having regular visits from a veterinarian while they stay at the kennel just to make sure everyone is healthy and happy!

Monitor Conditions & Cleanliness

How clean and organized does the facility appear? Are there any strange smells or messes around? Are there enough staff members present during playtime and feeding times? These are all important questions when it comes to evaluating if a dog kennel is providing adequate care for its guests.

Provide Enough Exercise & Mental Stimulation

Just like humans need exercise, so too do dogs! Providing ample exercise opportunities during each day will help keep them fit and healthy while also providing mental stimulation, which can help reduce stress levels associated with being away from home (especially if they’re used to going out on walks regularly).

Knowing how to look after our furry friends properly can feel like an overwhelming task at times, but thankfully there are many tools available today that can help us make sure our pups get only the best care possible!
